Every year we nominate leaders to help guide our church. Please nominate for the following roles at the end of this document. 

  • Elders help maintain the integrity and vision of Bridge
  • Elder Advisory Team assists Elders in shepherding and governing the church
  • Mercy and Justice Team members carry out the role of mercy and justice at Bridge and in our city

  • November 2016: Online Nominations 
  • January 2017:  Elder/Elder Advisory Team/MJT Interview and Evaluation
  • January - April 2017: Elder/Elder Advisory Team/MJT Training and Development 
  • April 2017: Examination 
  • May 2017: Distribution of Testimonies to Congregation
  • May 2017: Election and Installation 

Please read the following qualifications carefully before submitting nominations.

ELDER

  • Term
    • 3 years, with possibility of being re-elected
  • Responsibilities
    • Shepherd and govern the church and Pastoral Staff
  • Who is eligible to be nominated for elder?
    • A man who has been a member for at least 3 years AND
    • A man who has demonstrated past or present faithfulness and fruitfulness in leading a Bridge Group, DM Group/VP Table Leader AND
    • A man who is above reproach, faithful in his responsibilities as a husband and father (if married with children), self-controlled, not ruled by addiction, hospitable, not quarrelsome or quick-tempered, gentle, and has a proven track record of gospel repentance and faith in Christ.
  • What is the process?
    • An elder must be nominated by more than 2 members.  They will be interviewed, evaluated, trained, and examined during the summer and early fall.  The Congregation will vote and install the new elders in the Fall of 2015.

elder advisory team

  • Term
    • 1 year, with possibility of being re-appointed
  • Responsibilities
    • Assist elders in Shepherding and governing the church 
  • Who is eligible to be nominated for elder advisory team?
    • A person who has been a member for more than a year AND
    • A person who has demonstrated past or present faithfulness and fruitfulness in leading a Bridge Group, DM Group/VP Table Leader, or significant ministry area AND
    • A person who is above reproach, faithful in his/her responsibilities as a husband/wife and father/mother (if married with children), self-controlled, not ruled by addiction, hospitable, not quarrelsome or quick-tempered, gentle, and has a proven track record of gospel repentance and faith in Christ.
  • What is the process?
    • The Elder Advisory Team will be nominated by the members and appointed by the elders.  They will be interviewed, evaluated, trained, and examined during the summer and early fall with the Elder candidates.  While they will play a critical role, assistants to the elders are not office holders in the church and, as such, will not be ordained.

Mercy and Justice Team 

  • Term
    • 3 years, with possibility of being re-elected
  • Responsibilities
    • Help Bridge be a merciful and caring church
    • Lead in the work of community development
  • Who is eligible to be nominated for Mercy and Justice Team?
    • A person who has been a member for more than a year AND
    • A person who has a demonstrated track record of showing mercy and seeking justice and working in community development, is respected, manages household well, self-controlled and not ruled by addiction, has a firm faith in the gospel, and is above reproach.
  • What is the process?
    • MJT members will be elected by the congregation.  They will be interviewed, evaluated, trained, and examined during the summer and early fall with the candidates for elder.  While they will play a critical role, MJT members are not office holders in the church and, as such, will not be ordained.
